Had an enjoyable time volunteering on Lifelight Farm! Definitely a unique way to explore Australia.

Speaking Chinese is helpful to communicate with the other workers on the farm but there are English speaking people as well. It’s a good opportunity to experience Chinese culture too as meals are Chinese style – very yummy! (homemade dumplings, noodles, paos) Got to learn more about organic farming through weeding and mulching and got to feed the animals (cute alpacas :).  Interacted with animals such as alpacas, pigs, chicken, horses, sheep, a cat and dog (Buddy) who was very affectionate. Learnt how to drive a steam roller which was cool!

Would recommend Lifelight to anyone who is willing to work hard but have a good time. We work 6 hours a day and the rest of the time is up to us to spend. Thankful for the opportunity to interact with the volunteers from different countries (Japan, France, Switzerland, Germany, America). We watch movies during the night and have meals together. Enjoyed taking walks around the farm to watch the sunset and the night view of the stars is breathtaking without the light from the city. We go on outings during the weekend to places such as Noosa which was nice to explore other areas of sunshine coast.

It was a great 2 weeks away from the city immersed in nature and the hosts and volunteers were so hospitable that it felt like family. They were genuine in making sure I settled down well; asking if they could provide anything. Missing everyone already! I look forward to keeping in contact with the hosts and volunteers I have met.
