We are busy mustering on our family cattle property and would love some help from wwoofers who are keen to experience how a cattle station operates. We will be walking cattle on bikes and horses to load on trucks during this time, and there are many ways in which you could help out and join in the experience.
If you are available around either:
* 27th of April for a week or 2; or
* the first 2 weeks of June,
and are interested, please let us know. Having your own means of transport would be beneficial, but not essential. We could arrange pickup from Townsville or Charters Towers.
Our contact details are on page 246 of the January 2009, page 239 of the July 2008 and page 229 of the January 2008 WWOOF books. Our entry reads as follows:
Lynda & Darcy, Charters Towers. This is your chance to experience life on a cattle property. We live on a 52,000 acre cattle property situated 170km west of Charters Towers, and about 3 hours from Townsville. The property is used for cattle grazing and features some wonderful natural scenery, such as the Great Basalt Wall NP and Daintree's Lookout, the site of an extict volano. We are a young, freindly family with 2 small children and we usually have 1-2 people on staff at any one time. There are a variety of jobs available to suit each person's skill base, including cattle work, fencing, gardening, carpentry work, machinery maintenance, HH duties, cooking and child minding. We lead a fairly busy lifestyle and because of our distance from town usually entertain ourselves on the weakends with BBQs etc. Accom is available for singles or couples in staff quarters. No children. Meat based meals. NSI. Min stays 1-2 weeks. Can P/U from Charters Towers or Townsville with prior notice.
