I am a 45-yo male, married, no kids other than furry ones. I am looking for short term wwoofing host first, may be a weekend or maximum a week first, preferably in North Queensland. I enjoy humble quiet lifestyle and would like to learn permaculture and wish I could some day move into the bush. I come from Finnish (Finland) culture and my wife from Asian. But now I am a citizen. Have been working in IT but now starting studies in health care. I know how to cook vegetarian (and with limited interest other) food, have been doing some garden and house maintenance, like landscaping. Aside learning permaculture and country life style, I want to get to know like-minded people.

I have no particular schedule for wwoofing but do it as my studies and/or work allows. Will be open for suggestions until Jan 2010.

At first only me in the family is going to do wwoofing but who knows my positive experience will encourage my better half to try as well ...

Thanks!

Tim

Hello Tim
We are new hosts and after reading your ad wonder if you would consider
us for a wwoofer host.
We have a 21 acre property half hour from Ballarat in Victoria. We are working
on a permaculture design with a view to sustainability.
Some of the tasks we have happening are, assembling raised garden boxes,
gardening, watering, pruning, wood chopping, some handy man tasks.
Wwoofers would be welcomed as a part of the household, sharing meals and
downtime with hosts.
There is a small river within walking distance for fishing and we have a variety
of wildlife passing through most days.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.
Lindsay and Annette

We are new WWOOF Hosts, our contact details will be in the July 2009 WWOOF book. If you have an earlier edition, please call the WWOOF office on 03-5155-0218 during office hours or e-mail wwoof@wwoof.com.au, quoting your WWOOF membership number and our host number and they will give you our contact details.

Our entry in the WWOOF book will read as follows:-

3352b VB145 Lindsay & Annette, Taylors Lakes, 3038.

Work will include tree watering, pruning in the orchard, mulching, wood cutting, installing watering system, gorse removal, assembling garden boxes & hothouse, along with a variety of other projects. You will be working alongside the hosts most times but an ability to work unsupervised is an advantage. Ability to use power tools & knowledge of P/c principles are an advantage. Hosts only speak English, so good English language skills a must. Accom for a single person or couple in our clean & comfy spare room. No children. Mixed meals with hosts. Thank you guys so much for your replies! Indeed, would be lots of interesting stuff for me on your farms.
By the way, I have never been to Victoria, so would be time to pay a visit. But unfortunately at the moment I have some commitments here in the Far North Queensland (work, study and the family - and the wet season) so that I would need a better time to go that far. And as I stated I would rather start my wwoofer career here in the North and then go further a bit later. However I'll keep your offer in mind and come back to you whenever heading towards the south.

So, at the moment if there is a nice place (somewhat like-minded, vegetarian/vegan-friendly) family in the FNQ willing to let me pay a few days (weekend) visit first and make friends, please let me know.

Thanks!
Tim
