Hello!
I am a first-time wwoofer from the UK, I have been living in Sydney for the past 3 months and the time has come to get out and see some more of Australia...

My plan is, at the moment, to WWOOF between around the 11th January for 2 months. I am heading to WA for New Year and ideally I would like to stay around there for a while and then head somewhere else..anywhere in Oz...I am open to suggestions...

Preferably I would like to learn more about organic farming, permaculture etc.

I am a qualified Art and Design teacher of 5 years (high school), my other interests are the great outdoors, animals, nature, people, being creative, music, yoga, laughter, cooking, the ocean, healthy living.

I am an independent, hard working and conscientious individual and I like helping out, getting involved and being part of a family.

I am not vegetarian, although do veer towards that diet and I do enjoy the odd glass of wine, although could happily go without wine or meat if that was what your household does.

Would love to hear from you if you think you could accomodate me at any point during this time.

Many thanks!

Hi Lelah
We live in sunny Queensland on 190 acres only 15 minutes form the sea
We are new hosts QT165
We can have you any time but you will need to contact us prior regarding bedding arrangements.
We are Leah 40 and David 42 and Davey 18, Jonathon 17, Anne 15 and Charlotte 13. David’s mother Glenys also lives on the property with us in her own house and the boys often have their own guests in their house, and the girls have friends over often – so we are often feeding 14 or 15 people!

We have really enjoyed having our WWoofers and look forward to having many more in years to come. The amount we are learning about our world is exciting and the chance to share our knowledge of Australia is always gratifying.

Our farm is just about all animals – we love animals and if you don’t like dogs and cats inside – then probably we are not the host family for you!
We are not going to change 

We have on our farm as I write 11/12/08 (and this is always likely to change as we gather more ) 54 alpacas, 19 llamas, 8 cows, (3 calves on bottles) 4 horses, 6 dogs, 6 cats, 21 chooks, 6 silky chickens, 3 turkey chickens, 1 galah, 5 goats and 6 camels.

We are new WWOOF Hosts, our contact details are on page 238 of the January 2009 WWOOF book. If you have an earlier edition, please call the WWOOF office on 03-5155-0218 during office hours or e-mail wwoof@wwoof.com.au, quoting your WWOOF membership number and our host number and they will give you our contact details.

Work will involve feeding, watering animals. Letting them out of their night paddocks in the morning and locking them up at night.
There will always be weeding the vegie garden and general yard maintenance so you can always find something to do. We do like you to be able to show a little initiative with this.
We would also expect help when doing the injections, worm counts and general husbandry.
From time to time there will be fencing, pen building etc.

We ask for a minimum 6 - 8 hours a day for 4 days with 3 days off to yourself – we would like you to explore our region and enjoy the gorgeous Capricorn Coast. You are more than welcome to borrow some of our camping equipment and camp in one of the national parks or islands etc in the area. Give us enough time and we can try to organise to get you there!! We think that if you get away for some of your time off you will feel more energetic and enthusiastic.

We have a large table and love our night time meal together – the best time of the day! We would love you to cook – we are very interested in international cuisine but only if you want - it certainly is not necessary. However like all families – those who do not cook will have to help with the cleaning up. 

We don’t mind a social drink now and then but we are a non smoking and non drugging property.

We have a lovely big dam and often have over 10 kangaroos in our front paddock – so bring your camera! Our sunsets are beautiful and our area is full of surprises.

We are a meat eating family and vegetarians are welcome to make their own meals.

Please ask anything that you may need to ask – better to be sure.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Lelah,

We live on a 180ac farm of undulating farmland in the centre of the Blackwood Valley, WA and only a few minutes walk to the Blackwood River. The property consists of 80ac of natural bushland which is abundant with wildlife, and 100ac of grazing pasture which we run alpacas, cattle and boer goats. The property has two historic homesteads which are fed exclusively on rainwater that is collected throughout the year. There are also 3 dams which are used to water the gardens and supply the livestock with drinking water. The dams are also stocked with Trout and Marron for private fishing during parts of the year.

We often go to Perth so transport is available with us or there are buses and trains to Bridgetown on a daily basis from Perth.

We need help with general yard maintenance (mowing lawns, planting trees etc) around the houses, animal husbandry (giving food & water etc) and various other jobs that require doing around the farm. All work will be done with us and you won't be left to slog it out alone!! Besides its much more fun when more people are involved.

Time off can involve visiting the local farmer markets, walking the dogs or simply watching a video on a easy afternoon off!!! The choice is yours!! Also Wwoofing over Xmas and New Year is not a problem - we also enjoy a glass of wine occasionally!! wink.gif

We can be contacted by phone or email

You won’t be disappointed with this beautiful and tranquil farm and its surroundings.

We eagerly await your call/email ,

Heidi & Troy

Hello Lelah
Anglea 39, Leslie 13, Mitchell 9 and myself 44 run a large scale persimmon (kahki) fruit orchard in the beautiful Mary Valley in QLD. Located 2 hours north of Brisbane and only 45 minutes from the beach. We often go for a walk and a swim at the beach over the week end.

All of us are vegetarian and enjoy life very much. At the moment we are in progress converting the farm into BioDynamic.
End of January we'll start with the preperation for the new persimmon harvest which will start around mid February. So if you like fresh picked fruit, this is the place. This will be a busy place for 2 1/2 with all nationality of people picking and packing fruit.

There is an abundanc of wildlife in this area and on the farm, which offers great spots to relax, dream and enjoy sunsets and full moons.
Just send us an e-mail or call us so we chat a little bit further.

Cheers
Heinz and Angela

To Lelah,
Looks like you have a good choice of possible hosts to go to in Oz. I am a 41 yr old single woman who wants some keen wwoofers to plant vegetables and potatoes in a few acres of organic garden. I live in an isolated farming land near Goulburn NSW which is fabulous and very native Australia. All around me is sheep and crops as well as loads of other Aussie things to do and many other types of organic farms also such as olives and grapes. I would be happy to have more than one person at a time, but if you want some Australian bush serenity and relaxation this is it. I eat all types of foods but can accomodate whatever people wish. Best of Luck ......

Amamoor is 2 hours north of Brisbane and 45 minutes from Noosa. Close to the beach to cool off on the week ends.

We are hoping to find one or two (1-2) Wwoofers from beginning/mid February until end of March beginning of April. Shorter stays possible. During this time we are busy picking and packing our sweet persimmons and need help at the house.
Your work tends to average around 5 hours per day, mainly house chores (cooking lunch), HH, optional child minding and helping around our organic veggie garden.
Paid work might be available during this period.

Your own room is offered, fully furnished with a King size bed. We eat good food (mostly organic food from our garden) and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, in a tranquil, country like environment.
If it gets to hot just jump into the pool or enjoy a stroll in the creek.

We have two kids 9 and 13 and a lot of animals on the farm as well. Horses, dog, cats, geese, chickens, pea cock etc. and other native wild life.

Transport to Amamoor can be the following:
Train to Gympie or there is good bus service to Gympie as well for either direction.
Either we can pick you up at Gympie or the Matilda Fuel Station at Kybong which would be closer – just before Gympie.
Our Host number is QO146, page 225 in the 2009 edition.[/size]
