It could be handy. Most hosts provide bedding but some don't. You get bags that can be really light, under 500g.

good luck

Our contact details are on page 23 of the July 2008, page 22 of the Jan 2008, and page 23 of the July 2007 WWOOF books. Our entry reads as follows:

7163 TH035 Bronwyn & Steve, Middleton, 7163. Beachfront property, beautiful rainbows & sunrises, sunsets & southern lights, whales & dolphins. Dogs, cats, horses, cows & chickens. Not a commercial farm- it’s about lifestyle: eating our organic produce and fresh seasfood and not to get lost in superficial & pretentious living. Two teenagers & Brony’s parents live with us. Our interests are sports, music (many instruments), fishing, diving & surfing (have spare wetsuits & snorkel gear). Own room, good meals & company, join social visits- we’ve even taken our Wwoofers on holiday, interstate. Min stay 1 week, longer preferred or our home feels like a hostel and we like to connect with the people who stay. Always heaps to do with the family, animals & land so plenty to choose from. We don’t treat Wwoofers as slaves! Brony has many injuries so that’s why your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,
I am a host and I certainly wouldn't expect you to have to bring a sleeping bag,but who knows?Arrange your travels &
ask hosts what they provide.

I had a very good sleeping bag that I allowed a wwoofer to use for a while (I am a host), last autunm..., I didnt check properly when she departed (last April)..., and she took it with her...., she obviously liked/needed it.

Now I advise wwoofers they need to bring their own as my new 'hessian' blankets may not suit........., KIDDING about the second part. !

In S/W W.A. it gets cold at night sometimes..., on account of the whole interior being desert.
So you will need one in this region...., always ask the WWOOF host about what is provided.

Happy travels. Malcolm.

My contact details are on page 304 of the July 2008, page 291 of the Jan 2008, and page 284 of the July 2007 WWOOF books. My entry reads as follows:

6288hb WS049 P/c Malcolm, Hamelin Bay, 6288. A beautiful stream flows through this place and beside the stream is a s/c, clean caravan for wwoofers & friends. Work here is easy, flexible & varied in our large organic orchard & vegie/herb gardens. This peaceful property is very close to excellent surfing, diving, fishing & walking areas. Sometimes we leave the work behind to play in the ocean. A tall forest NP is beside us, Hamelin Bay is a 4 km walk through this NP and Margaret River is 20 min drive. Also we have ‘Jimmy’ the friendliest & smartest Dingo you will ever meet!! Bus is closeby. Mixed diets. Lots of seafood. Genuine Wwoofers who have a good understanding of English language required. Independent, creative people welcome!

It'll be too hot in Cairns for a sleeping bag! When travelling I used to find a "sheet sleeping bag" useful. It's just a sewn up cotton sheet, rolls up to nothing. You can use it as it is in hot places (or just lie on top of it), or you can use it under blankets that the hostel/accommodation provides.

If you're looking for a place near-ish to Cairns, I need some help!
