WWOOF Australia - Bulletin Board Instructions

This Bulletin Board is where WWOOF Australia Hosts advertise for extra WWOOFing help and WWOOFers look for Hosts. Everyone is welcome to browse the topic titles - but only registered WWOOF Australia Hosts and WWOOFers can become members of the Bulletin Board, see the full topics, member profiles and post advertisements.

To become a WWOOFer and contact any of the WWOOF Australia Hosts, please JOIN WWOOF Australia. The WWOOF Book you receive with your membership has the contact information for ALL our 2,300+ hosts - including Hosts who advertise on this Board. 

~~~INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOSTS USING THE BULLETIN BOARD~~~

Go to www.wwoof.com.au and click on the Bulletin Board (BB) button on the left hand side of the page.

NOTE: All new WWOOF Hosts are now automatically registered and verified as Hosts on the Bulletin Board by the WWOOF Office, so new Hosts log in, then post their entries in the forums without having to wait for verification.

Your USER NAME is your Host number and your password will be e-mailed to you when you first register as a Host. If you have forgotten it please contact us and we will re-set it for you.

To log in, click log in, then fill in the details, your Host Number is your user name & your password is case sensitive (if you select "Remember me" you should not need to log in again) click "log me in". You will see a screen that says "Thanks, you are now logged in as [your user name]. You will now be taken back to the BB and at the top it will say "Logged in as [your user name] (logout)"

POSTING A TOPIC IN THE HOSTS LOOKING FOR WWOOFers FORUM

To post an entry in the "Hosts looking for WWOOFers forum" (only Hosts can post a topic in this forum), scroll down the page and find your own state and click on, for example, "WWOOFers needed in Queensland" Go to the top, right hand side of the box with all of the Host entries, and click the blue "New topic" button. This takes you to the page where you put in your entry.
Fill in details as required. You can browse your computer for a photo or file (must be less than 2mb total) then click upload, click "Post new topic" your photo will appear as a thumbnail which will be full screen if clicked on. When you are happy with your entry you can log out (if you wish, or stay logged in for next time by just closing the page). We put your Host entry from the WWOOF Book in your signature, so you don’t need to put your contact details in your topic.
The entries in the "Hosts looking for WWOOFers forum" can be replied to by WWOOFers, so you need to check your post for replies. You can tick "Enable email notification of replies" so you get an email if anyone replies to your topic. If you forget to tick this box, you can go to “Options” on the top right of your topic and select “Track this topic”. It is a good idea to delete the topic (see below) when you find your WWOOFer/s so you don’t keep getting replies.

EDITING ENTRIES on the BULLETIN BOARD

Topics and posts can be edited by the member who posted them (or by the WWOOF office), simply go to the topic or post, click on the "edit" button (bottom right), select either "full edit" or "quick edit", make the changes then click "submit modified post" if "full edit" or click "complete edit" if you chose "quick edit" .

DELETING ENTRIES ON THE BULLETIN BOARD

At the bottom left hand side of the screen you will see a box that says "Moderation Options" click on the arrow and you can select "delete this topic", then click "go" if you want to delete your whole entry. (note only you or WWOOF can delete your entry).

WWOOFer and HOST PROFILES

To see a WWOOFer's profile, click on their user name (WWOOFer number), some WWOOFers will put photos, list their interests and skills in their profile.  Only verified WWOOF Members can see your profile & signature.
WWOOF Hosts can add photos & information about their interests etc to their own profile, by clicking on My Controls at the top of any Bulletin Board page. On the left hand side of the screen there is a Menu. Under the heading Personal Profile you can edit your Personal Profile, signature (which can include a web photo AND your contact details, the WWOOF Office will usually put your contact details and entry from the WWOOF Book here for you when you are first registered), select an avatar (you can upload a thumbnail sized photo from your computer of yourself as your avatar) and upload a personal photo, which could be a photo of your property. This is a great place to tell WWOOFers all about yourself, your property and the type of accommodation you are offering. You can also tell WWOOFers about the types of work you will ask them to do, the food they can expect and any special things you want to tell them.

There are 2 ways to put a photo on your personal picture and avatar,
*The first is to click “choose file”, then find the picture you want on your own computer and select it. Then click either Update Avatar or Update Photo (these needs to be small files, 50 kb for avatar & 300 kb for personal photo).
*The second is to use a photo that is already on a website, to do this, go to that website, right click on the photo you want to use, select Properties, then copy the Address (URL) of the photo, for example http://www.wwoof.com.au/picture_library/wwoofstaff.jpg Paste this into the URL box then click either "Update Avatar" or "Update Photo"

To put a photo in your signature, it must be a photo from a website. Copy and paste the URL (to get the URL of a picture, find the picture you want on a website, right click on it & select properties, then highlight the URL, right click & select copy) into the text box for your signature, then highlight the URL and click the symbol with a tree on it, this will put [img] in front and [/img] after the URL and this will activate the web picture.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your alter your contact details in your signature you need to also let the WWOOF Office know so we can alter your entry in the WWOOF Book and our database.  These ARE NOT LINKED to the Bulletin Board and we will not know if you have altered your signature.

TO ALTER YOUR PASS WORD

You can also change your password, if you wish, via the My Controls link at the top of each page - use the link " Change Password " and follow the instructions.

FORUM FOR HOSTS TO TALK TO HOSTS IN PRIVATE

This is a forum that only WWOOF hosts have access to, it is called "Infoshare for WWOOF Hosts only" and is intended for private discussion between Wwoof Hosts. WWOOF hosts who are currently registered to use the Bulletin Board will be able to use this section once they have logged in, it can be found on the Main Bulletin Board page, below the forum for "Ads for Travelling Companions". 
Use it to share information with other Hosts about WWOOFers, how to handle difficult & uncomfortable situations and brainstorming about more effective hosting. Also use it to share your positive experiences, best WWOOFer stories as well as funny WWOOF experiences that you have had.

WWOOFERS LOOKING FOR A HOST

This forum on the Bulletin Board is for WWOOFers to tell hosts about themselves and where they are travelling, you can reply to these entries on the forum or contact the WWOOFers direct if they include their contact details. Here is how you can reply to WWOOFerslLooking for Hosts on the Bulletin Board.

Firstly you need to 'Log  In'. Then go to "WWOOFers Looking For a Host Forum" and scroll down until you see WWOOFer's entry, click on it and then click on "Add Reply" on the lower right hand side of the text box. You are able to now write your reply and can leave your message there. We put your Host entry from the WWOOF Book in your signature, so you don’t need to put your contact details in your reply. PLEASE do not put your private contact details in the WWOOF Australia Forum. This is for your own protection.

~~~WWOOFers FORUMS INSTRUCTIONS~~~     

Go to our website, click on the link to the WWOOF Bulletin Board, register using your WWOOF membership number as your user name and as your display name, and choose your own password. Once registered you can log in and begin using any of the forums, which are located directly below the Host Bulletin Board.

WWOOFers must be verified by the WWOOF office and logged in before they can post an entry in the forums or see the Host profiles and signatures. The WWOOF Office check all newly registered Bulletin Board users each weekday and verify WWOOFer users so that they can post entries in the forums. If you register on a Friday evening or during the weekend you will need to wait until we have done this on Monday, usually by mid afternoon. If you urgently need to place an entry, you can ring the WWOOF office on 03-5155-0218 first thing Monday morning and we will verify you as a WWOOFer straight away. Before you are verified as a WWOOFer you are able to view entries in all of the other visible forums, and look hosts up in your WWOOF book. If you are using a shared computer, please remember to log out when you are finished using the Bulletin Board.

Click on the forum that you want to go into, then you can either begin a new topic or reply to someone else's topic.  You can also e-mail other WWOOFers who have entries on the forum if they put their e-mail address in their post or in their profile. Fill in details as required. (Do not put any contact details in your entry, just in your profile or signature) You can browse your computer for a photo or file (must be less than 2mb total)  then click upload, then click "Post new topic" your photo will appear as a thumbnail which will be full screen if clicked on.

You can look for a host in the Hosts Looking For WWOOFers forum, there is a forum for each state. The Host contact details and their entry from the WWOOF Book are usually in their signature at the bottom of their Post.  Sometimes there is additional information in their Profile, which you can get to by clicking on their user name. WWOOFers cannot post topics as it is only for Hosts to advertise for WWOOFers, but they can reply to Host advertisements in this forum, .

WWOOFers can advertise for a Host in the WWOOFers looking for a Host forum, look for a travel companion in the Ads for Travelling Companions forum, talk about your WWOOF experiences & recommend your best Host to other WWOOFers in the Sharing WWOOFing Experiences forum or share your favourite recipes in the WWOOFing Recipes forum. In all of these forums WWOOFers and Hosts can reply to topics.

WWOOFer and HOST PROFILES

To see a WWOOF Host's profile, click on their user name (Host number e.g. QU245), some hosts will put photos of their properties, descriptions, web, email and phone details in their profile. (Only verified WWOOF members have access to each others profile).

To see another WWOOFer's profile, click on their user name (WWOOFer number), some WWOOFers will put photos, list their interests and skills, web, email and phone details in their profile.

WWOOFers can also add photos & information about their interests etc to their own profile, by clicking on My Controls at the top of any Bulletin Board page, then filling in any of the fields they wish.  This is a great place to tell hosts all about yourself and the skills you have to share.  On the left hand side of the screen there is a menu to access your signature (which can include a web photo, and is the best place to put any contact details as only other registered WWOOFers & Hosts can see it) You can also select an avatar or you can upload a thumbnail sized photo of yourself as your avatar, or upload a personal photo.
